When data entry skills are needed, SRG uses both manual and scanning technology.

1. Manual :   SRG utilizes a customized manual data entry program where all responses are entered twice by two different people and then compared for inconsistencies. The computer output automatically flags any discrepancies during the verification phase, and supervisors can look up the actual survey or form for the correct response.   Using this process, SRG has virtually eliminated all errors in data entry.

2. Scanning :   SRG also utilizes a scanning verification system where forms are automatically converted to electronic format within the SRG in-house scanning facility. The SRG imaging software evaluates responses automatically, drawing from multiple reference databases in order to recognize and interpret many types of responses, including hand-written comments, machine print, bar codes, and a wide variety of check box fields. The software alerts SRG personnel whenever any information requires human verification (e.g., for illegible handwritten comments). The verification settings enable SRG personnel to locate problematic responses and move efficiently through various correction modes.
